Types of Operation
CCF is a green energy production company and its activities are aimed single-mindedly at that goal. Its core role, and the place where it all began, is as a green oil plantation operator. Starting with the pioneer crop, Jatropha Curcas, and employing innovative financing methods, CCF has quickly built a thriving and profitable business.
For example:
Jatropha plays the role of pioneer crop for oil operation implementation. This is because, agriculturally speaking it is a very hardy and robust tree which will thrive in many soil types with balanced soil analytics and CCF best farming practices.
Commercially, Jatropha reaches revenue within year one, and produces energy in the form of oil which sells into a very robust marketplace. (The oil is very high quality).
This forms the revenue and capital-basis, from which plantation criteria are shaped, with hemp and sweet sorghum being utilised to realise faster revenue profiles; the asset based oil crops such as oil palm and pongamia are utilised to create more capital based profiles with longer term, but bigger, yields, perhaps with a leaning towards a more mechanical harvesting.
The aim is to avoid mono-culture and promote biodiversity. By intelligent use of finance flows, CCF remains self-funding and commercially balanced, whilst growing at a very fast pace.
Interestingly, one of the by-products of applying holistic farming methods is a consequential improvement in farmer's food crop harvests as a result of the transfer of technology-based better farming practices. Not only do these methods maximise oil yields from oil crops, they also contribute to better returns from edible crops.
Green oil plantations have been established using a range of different management models, including those owned outright by the company, some operated on behalf of others, quite a few on a joint venture basis, and others on behalf of investor owners. There are also a large number of outreach plantations of which the company is justifiably proud. We provide the initial seedlings, agricultural knowledge, management support and a guaranteed market at a fair price to self-employed farmers who cultivate the crop on their own, often unused or unproductive land.
The common threads are the use of CCF’s experience in plantation management, the application of proven holistic farming methods and the acquisition and ownership of the best genetics available anywhere.
As well as green oil, CCF also creates green energy from waste. Using compact pyrolysis units, clean energy (Syngas) can be produced from all manner of waste materials, including the biomass residues left after extracting the oil seeds from Jatropha fruit. In so doing, the energy yield from each plant can be effectively doubled.
